Rep Stewart stated during the closed-door Summit that HORSES ON THE RANGE can be euthanized if his current amendment is passed.

This applies to our wild horses on the range as well as the ones in holding. That means our of the approx. 110 thousand wild horses that exist in this country the bill authorizes BLM to kill horses over their arbitrary total AML set for the country of 27,000 wild horses. We need everyone to call their federal representative and their 2 federal senators and tell them you do not support the death, via slaughter or euthanasia, of any healthy or unadoptable wild horses. They should be released and kept on the range and safely managed with birth control vaccines as needed.

  1. I thin this is absolutely disgusting. This would never be allowed in the UK or any other part of the world. It can’t be allowed to happen. πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘πŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž

  2. This is outrageous. I lived on the Eastern Shore of Virginia for over 20 years and visited 10 years prior. Chincoteague Island is known for their horse and pony herd. The fire department raises money to take care of the herd. This can be done elsewhere. No killing allowed!

  12. Advocates had *better* JOIN TOGETHER and
    1) make certain that their votes count. It’s the only way!
    2) Phone AND write their legislators whenever they see domestic/wildlife issues and bills being considered. Don’t be afraid to tell them where you stand.

  13. can you please add to this call to action, that it’s called the STEWART AMENDMENT…and maybe also the information below:

this info is from Habitat for Humanity
“attached to the 2017 House Interior Appropriations Bill (HR 5538) as Section 444. The exact same language was also included in the Senate version of the bill (S. 3068) as Section 110. The Amendment reads:
umane transfer of excess animals.β€” Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Secretary of the Interior may transfer excess wild horses or burros that have been removed from the public lands to other Federal, State, and local government agencies for use as work animals:

Provided, That the Secretary may make any such transfer immediately upon request of such Federal, State, or local government agency: Provided further, That any excess animal transferred under this provision shall lose its status as a wild free-roaming horse or burro as defined in the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act:

Provided further, That any Federal, State, or local government agency receiving excess wild horses or burros as authorized in this section shall not destroy the horses or burros in a way that results in their destruction into commercial products, or sell or otherwise transfer the horses in a way that results in their destruction for processing into commercial products.Β»

You can read the actual language here:

    – House (H.R. 5538)
    https://www.congress.gov/114/bills/hr5538/BILLS-114hr5538rh.pdf

    – Senate (S. 3068):
    https://www.congress.gov/114/bills/s3068/BILLS-114s3068pcs.pdf

You have to really hunt for it, because it’s buried deep inside the Bill. If you think you have trouble finding it, what about our elected Reps and Senators that try to understand only a little of what they are voting on.”

  15. PZP works. The BLM uses 4% of its budget on birth control. People are the problem, not the horses. I do not want the BLM to sell or kill our horses.

I can’t even fathom how a humane being that has a soul and a beating heart can ever even suggest such a horrific act against our country’s wild horses. Or any animals for that matter. People now a days are so $$$$ hungry that they don’t care about anything except the almighty dollar. Money truly is the root of all evil … what comes around goes around and hopefully theses soulless heartless people will have devastating consequences of their actions in their lives

  19. An effort this big, along with the perpetuation of false information about starving horses and over population must have a strong profit motive.
Who is pushing the efforts to slaughter? Where do we go when we follow the money?
Starting with Rep Stewart, how much money has been donated by the pro-slaughter lobby?

    1. Look directly at the Livestock industry and those supporting them like the Audubon Society, Wildlife Society, and many more who attended an illegal meeting (closed to the public) and developed a steering committee which came up with resolutions for the appropriations hearings. They will stop at nothing to kill our wildlife, take our lands, and make their profits.
